If you’ve been following Average Bubba over the past few months, you’ve seen a lot of church critique.
Ekklesia posts. Institutional Christianity analysis. The 59 “one another” commands the modern church can’t obey. Why the Sunday morning performance model is biblically bankrupt.
And that work isn’t going anywhere.
It matters. It needs to be said. And I’m going to keep saying it.
But if you think that’s ALL this blog is about, you haven’t been paying attention.
Who Is Average Bubba?
Let me remind you who I am—and what you’re getting here.
I’m a 61-year-old “average Bubba” from South Mississippi.
I’m a Christian. church of Christ background. I believe the Bible means what it says, and I’m not interested in explaining it away to make people comfortable.
I’m a conservative. Reagan Republican. I watched the Democrat party abandon working-class Americans and embrace every cultural poison imaginable.
I’m Southern. Born and raised. And I’m not apologizing for that either.
I’ve been blogging since the early days of the medium.
Before “influencers.” Before algorithms. Before monetization and metrics.
I started blogging because I had something to say and nobody was saying it.
And what I had to say wasn’t just about church.
It was about everything.
- Faith AND culture
- Church AND politics
- Biblical truth AND cultural decay
- What’s happening in the pulpit AND what’s happening in Washington
Because here’s the thing:
You can’t separate them.
Your theology affects your politics. Your politics reflect your worldview. Your worldview is shaped by what you believe about God, man, sin, and salvation.
It’s all connected.
So when I critique the institutional church, I’m not JUST critiquing worship styles or leadership structures.
I’m critiquing a SYSTEM that has abandoned biblical truth and embraced cultural compromise.
And that compromise shows up everywhere.
In the pulpit. In the voting booth. In the culture.
What You’ve Been Getting
Over the past few months, I’ve been laser-focused on one thing:
Exposing the institutional church model as unbiblical.
And I stand by every word.
- The mistranslation of ekklesia as “church”
- The 59 “one another” commands that require actual relationships
- The impossibility of obeying Scripture in the Sunday morning performance model
- The idolatry of buildings, budgets, and celebrity pastors
All of that is TRUE.
And it’s not going away.
But it’s not the WHOLE mission.
What You’re Going to Get
Here’s what Average Bubba has ALWAYS been about:
1. Biblical Truth Without Apology
I don’t care if it’s unpopular.
I don’t care if it’s “divisive.”
I don’t care if it makes you uncomfortable.
If the Bible says it, I’m saying it.
2. Cultural Commentary Without Filter
Political correctness is a cancer.
“Tolerance” is code for compromise.
“Inclusion” usually means abandoning truth.
And I’m not playing that game.
3. Faith AND Politics
Your pastor might tell you to “keep politics out of church.”
I’m telling you that’s cowardice.
Because politics IS theology applied.
How you vote reflects what you believe about God, man, justice, and truth.
And pretending otherwise is just intellectual laziness.
4. No Sacred Cows Except Scripture
Everything is on the table.
Denominational traditions. Political parties. Cultural assumptions. National myths.
If it contradicts Scripture, I’m going after it.
And if it claims to BE Scripture but isn’t, I’m going after that too.
5. Southern, Christian, Conservative—Unapologetically
I’m not trying to be cool.
I’m not trying to be relevant.
I’m not trying to appeal to the younger demographic or sound “winsome” or avoid offense.
I’m too old for that.
I know who I am. I know what I believe. And I’m not apologizing for it.
If that bothers you, there’s the door.
Why the Shift Back
So why am I telling you all this now?
Because we’re starting 2026 with a series that’s going to look DIFFERENT from the ekklesia posts.
But it’s not actually different.
It’s just showing you the FULL picture of what this blog has always been.
Starting this week, we’re diving into religious freedom.
- What’s happening to Christians in Europe right now
- What’s happening in Canada (closer than you think)
- What our ancestors DIED for to give us the freedom we’re squandering
- How America is heading back to the religious tyranny the Founders fled
This is faith AND culture.
This is church AND politics.
This is biblical principle applied to real-world consequences.
And it matters just as much as the ekklesia posts.
Maybe more.
What to Expect Going Forward
Here’s what you’re getting from Average Bubba in 2026:
You’ll still get church critique.
The institutional model is broken. I’m going to keep saying it. I’m going to keep showing why. I’m going to keep calling people back to biblical ekklesia.
That’s not going away.
You’ll also get political commentary.
Because politics affects your freedom to worship. Your freedom to raise your kids. Your freedom to speak truth.
And if you lose those freedoms, your church building won’t save you.
You’ll get cultural analysis.
Why the culture is collapsing. Why “tolerance” is destroying the West. Why abandoning Christian morality has consequences—REAL consequences.
And why pretending otherwise is willful blindness.
You’ll get biblical application to ALL of it.
Not just “what does the Bible say about church.”
What does the Bible say about government? About justice? About freedom? About truth?
All of it.
A Word of Warning
If you’re looking for sanitized, politically correct, “seeker-friendly” Christianity—this isn’t it.
If you want a blog that avoids “controversial” topics—go somewhere else.
If you need me to tiptoe around your feelings or avoid offending your politics—you’re in the wrong place.
Average Bubba is UNFILTERED.
That’s in the name.
That’s the brand.
That’s the promise.
I’m going to tell you the truth.
Even when it’s uncomfortable.
Even when it’s unpopular.
Even when it challenges YOUR assumptions, not just the other side’s.
Because that’s what prophetic voices do.
They speak truth.
And they don’t apologize for it.
Why It Matters
Here’s why this matters:
We’re living in a time when truth is under assault from every direction.
The culture says there’s no such thing as absolute truth.
The government says you can’t speak certain truths.
The church says you shouldn’t talk about uncomfortable truths.
And Christians are cowering.
Afraid to offend. Afraid to be labeled. Afraid to lose influence.
I’m not afraid.
I’ve got nothing to lose. No career to protect. No platform to preserve. No brand to sanitize.
I’m just a guy with a blog and a Bible.
And I’m going to say what needs to be said.
The Bottom Line
Average Bubba is about MORE than just church.
It’s about faith in a faithless culture.
It’s about truth in a world of lies.
It’s about biblical Christianity applied to EVERYTHING—church, politics, culture, family, freedom.
The ekklesia posts aren’t going anywhere.
But they’re not the ONLY thing.
Starting this week, we’re talking about religious freedom.
What’s being lost. What was sacrificed to gain it. What we’re doing to throw it away.
And it’s going to be UNFILTERED.
If you’re ready for that—welcome.
If you’re not—well, you’ve been warned.
